This reminded me of a scene in Friends with Rachel doing that exact calculation when she turned 30.

I always thought that if you want to have children you should have them sooner rather than later, maybe even in your 20s... But then a friend (who had children in her 30s) recently said she believes people should wait and have them later and be 100% sure because there is "no going back" and I was surprised and I loved her more for this. (I don't have children)

I want children and I’m 34. So, I’m happy the age of 35 got pushed up to 40. But, still feeling anxious about this. My mom sadly and unfortunately, gave up on the idea of having grandchildren. I’m an only child. I went through SO MUCH anxiety and trauma reading that baby bit.

Five star, I love 100% of this post. So many things to cover! Too many for a comment. I'm saving it all for our catch-up with Emma and I feel this post will be the rudder with which our conversation is steered <3

I have no idea when is best to have children, I suspect every age can be good and bad in different ways.

I think I would have been a ‘leave it until the last minute’ (or possibly never) person as I was so into my career, travelling, socialising etc post-university but got accidentally pregnant when I was 26. Fortunately it was with a wonderful man (now my husband) and almost 19 years later with two teenagers the four of us go to Taylor Swift concerts together, enjoy holidays in Greece where we all drink copious amounts of Diet Coke and life feels like it worked out. The early years can be rough but it doesn’t last.

I also think I would have been happy childless but will never know.

“You’re fine. Don’t worry.” Is excellent advice.
